Four thin, wooden batons have been nailed along the four edges of the stretcher.
The canvas has been relined. There is one minor dent, with some associated paint loss, in the background above the nude's knee, and fine lines of craquelure are visible in her body. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals a thick layer of residual varnish and scattered areas of retouching, including:
- a circa 12 by 5cm. 'L'-shaped stroke in the background in the lower left quadrant, below the nude's leg;
- a circa 18cm. horizontal stroke in her right hip; and
- a circa 20cm. vertical stroke in Cupid's wing.
Otherwise, this work presents very well and is overall in good condition.
Presented and sold unframed.
