GEORGE NAKASHIMA

PAIR OF "CONOID CUSHION" ARMCHAIRS

circa 1960s

American black walnut, hickory, fabric upholstered cushions

Condition Report

Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces present with minor surface scratches, indentations, and areas of very minor discoloration, consistent with age and gentle use. The proper right back leg of one of the chairs is slightly loose, not disruptive to the overall structure. The other chair presents with minor evidence of an adhesive on proper left back leg and webbing which is missing one out of twelve screws, not structurally or visually disruptive. The cushions are in good condition. The lot includes four cushions in total, two serving as backrests and two serving as seats (four cushions in total). A fine example of an iconic form by Nakashima.
