Via her work, Nancy Spero continuously engaged in contemporary political, social and cultural concerns. She chronicled themes ranging from wars and apocalyptic violence to visions of ecstatic birth and the celebratory cycles of life. She was a frequent collaborator with her husband, the artist Leon Golub.
