An ivory silk shantung "Palazzo pyjama" with strass and pearl fringes embroidery

The « Palazzo Pyjama » embodies the signature piece which made Irene Galtzine famous. “Palazzo Pyjama” is the name given, by the great Diana Vreeland, to this type of evening pant suit ensemble, in the American Vogue of December 1962.

Claudia Cardinale wore a Palazzo Pyjama, with bigger embroideries, in the movie The Pink Panther by Blake Edwards (1963), kept in Irene Galitzine’s archives in Rome. The lot we are selling is probably from the actress’s intended wardrobe for this movie.
