Namiki is a well establish Japanese pen company, that is known for their maki-e laquered designs. These pens are specially hand painted by a single artisan. The process can take several months to complete, making each individual pen a unique work of art.

The Kingfisher is a small to medium sized bird, usually with bright colored feathers found in the tropical regions of Asia. The bird's Japanese name is kawasemi, translating to "river cicada". The Kingfisher symbolizes good fortune and a fertile harvest. It's connected to Jupiter, which is symbolic of abundance and wealth. For those who feel they are a magnet for negative occurrences, Kingfishers are known to alter one's fortune for the better.

The present pen was created by Maki-e artist, Michifumi Kawaguchi. The Yukari Royale Kingfisher was made with a very limited production sent worldwide. This "Kingfisher" pen comes accompanied by its certificate of authenticity, product registration card, instructions for use and care, the artist Michifumi Kawaguchi's name card, and its original presentation box.
