Beginning in 1992, Montblanc has dedicated a limited edition series of writing instruments to great writers of literature called the "Writers Edition". For over two and a half decades, each year the firm pays tribute to a writer that has influenced our society with their works. Each piece within the set is inspired by the authors themselves.

The present set made to commemorate Mark Twain, a beloved American Writer from Missouri. Twain is best known for his novels Life on the Mississippi and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which is also referred to as "The Great American Novel". The commemorative Writers Edition set pays homage to Twain's memoir Life on the Mississippi, which captures his time as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River both before and after the Civil War. The writing instruments are elegantly decorated with midnight blue engraved resin to represent the waves of the Mississippi River, with the tops of the caps shaped to resemble the steamboat chimneys, whose steam is depicted by ivory-colored resin. The platinum plated clip is made to emulate a harp, which was a popular musical instrument in Southern States during Twain's time.

The limited edition set is accompanied by its original presentation box, outer packaging and Mark Twain instruction manual booklet.
