A GREEK BRONZE FIGURE OF ZEUS, 6TH CENTURY B.C.


striding with his left leg advanced and holding a rolled thunderbolt in his raised right hand and an eagle in his extended left hand, with full beard, his hair bound in a fillet, arranged in corkscrew curls over the forehead, and falling in long tresses over the shoulders and in a broad mass of seven tresses over the back.

Height 10.8 cm.

Leo Biaggi de Blasys (1906-1979), Lugano, acquired in the 1950s/1960s

by descent to the present owner
