WALTER LAUNT PALMER
1854 - 1932
signed - W.L. PALMER - (lower left), signed again and inscribed with title (on the stretcher)
oil on canvas
20 x 24 inches (50.8 x 60.96 cm)
The work is unlined and appears to retain its original stretchers. There is some very minor surface cracking throughout, with visible stretcher bar marks along the edges, though the surface does appear to be stable at this time. There is frame abrasion and staining along the extreme outer edges of the canvas. Although some pigments fluoresce under UV light they appear to be the artist's original work. There appears to be a second signature at lower left which reads PALMER and appears to have been painted over by the artist.
