Property from a Private Collection, The Netherlands
Alkmaar with the Accijnstoren
signed Klinkenberg lower right
oil on canvas
39 by 48cm., 15¼ by 18¾in.
The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher, possibly the original. There is a pattern of drying craquelure throughout. However this is not too distracting and appears to be stable. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some in-painting in the aforementioned craquelure, notably in the water and in the lower left corner. Otherwise, this work is in good condition and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
