Cataloguing

Catalogue Note

Based in Rome, Andreoni sent his works for exhibition to Glasgow (1888) and Berlin (1892) and is believed to have been active for a time in America. This exposure established his international reputation.

He specialised in historical and biblical subjects and his expertise with the chisel is evident here in the virtuoso handling of veil, delicately falling over the figure's body.
