MARY OF BURGUNDY HAWKING
signed: Barre., and inscribed: Susse Fres
bronze, dark brown patina
51.5 by 49cm., 20¼ by 19¼in.
Overall the condition of the bronze is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The bronze is cast in sections and joints are slightly visible below the hawk and at the horse’s tail. There is general wear to the patina, including rubbing, in particular to the squire’s proper left leg, to the squire’s and Mary’s faces, to the high points of Mary’s glove, and to the high points of the horse’s tail and the saddle's straps and decoration. The hawk’s proper left wing may be slightly warped.
