TWO DUTCH TWO-HANDLED SILVER SWEETMEAT BASKETS, THE FIRST, JAN DIEDRIK PONT, AMSTERDAM 1755, THE SECOND, MAKER'S MARK (?)H | AMSTERDAM, 1761


The first of shaped oval form with foliate embellished scrolling rim, the fixed handles similarly embellished, the border pierced with panels of stylised foliage, on four rocaille embellished hoof feet, 14.9cm., 5 7/8 in. over handles.

The second, of shaped oval form with rocaille embellished rim, the border pierced with panels of foliage, the scrolling hinged handles on bracket supports, on four anthemion embellished scroll feet.

11.5cm., 4 ½ in. long

Both with fairly clear marks to underside. Both a bit one, the first less so. The piercing on the second a little more worn. Generally good condition for age.
