This exceptional riff on the Radiomir, one of Panerai’s most emblematic models, was created as an homage to the brand’s Florentine heritage. The prototype offered here eventually became the PAM00672, a limited edition of 99 pieces released in 2016. It is distinguished by meticulously hand-engraved embellishments inspired by traditional Florentine architecture, an exacting design that takes one master craftsman a full week to complete. But unlike the PAM00672’s polished finish, this prototype features a matte brushed-steel case. And where the PAM00672 has a sunburst sandwich dial, this model employs the rarer “California” dial. Marked by a combination of luminous Roman and Arabic numerals and a railway track minute circle, Panerai’s “California” dial debuted on the very first Radiomir created in 1936. The exhibition back displays the hand-wound in-house caliber P.3000/F, which is stunningly laser-engraved with further Florentine motifs. Boasting a power reserve of three days and water resistance to 100 meters, this remarkable watch has beauty and brawn in equal measure.
