This film was based on Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name. It was directed by Richard Brooks, and stars Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, who were both nominated for Oscars.

Ercole Brini has stylishly captured the two main characters in his visually strong artwork for this poster.

This Italian poster was printed on two sheets and was designed to be pasted onto billboards. As a result only unused examples have survived, and very few are known to have surfaced. This poster has come from the estate of the artist. It was kept directly from the printers at the time of production, and was never folded. This size poster was always folded as soon as it came off the press, and it is therefore extremely rare to have an unfolded example.
