Emblematic of his individual technique, the present work conveys Lhote’s unique pictorial style of Cubism: a triumphant, spontaneous vision that incorporates his unabashed use of vivacious colors with Cubist ideas of form. The unrestrained color of his palette is superbly sensitive, and his bold play of lines and figurative elements provides a sense of inventiveness to the formality of his pictorial construct. Bursting with energy, Lhote reworks the landscape in the context of the Cubist code to create a lively quality entirely his own.
