Title-page with type-ornament vignette, engraved frontispiece, 8 engraved plates or full-page illustrations, each with 2 images; lacking final leaf (verses & errata), frontispiece trimmed and laid down, title-page rebacked, A1, A2, and Kkkk1 silked, some mostly marginal browning and staining, some marginal tears and repairs, one plate torn into image, a few scattered rust-holes. Twentieth-century crushed brown morocco, front cover with vignette of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza stamped in russet, spine gilt, by Myron Davy (signed at foot of spine); spine a little darkened.
First illustrated edition in English.
