3 vols., 8vo (10⅜ x 6¾ in.; 263 x 172 mm). 3 handcolored lithographed frontispieces (Hunting the Buffalo, Red-Bird, Prairie on Fire) after Rindisbacher and 117 handcolored lithographed portraits after Charles Bird King by J. T. Bowen; some finger-soiling and staining, a very few plates with imprints shaved or cropped. Publisher's gilt-paneled red morocco, spines gilt in six compartments, yellow-coated endpapers, gilt edges; extremities rubbed, front joint of vol. 3 cracking.
A very good and vividly colored set of the third octavo edition.
