A collection of six letters and cards:


four autograph letters signed ("Bapu") and one card (unsigned), to Jamnabehn, with news from the Ashram, discussing his diet in jail and her gift of dates from an Arab follower, and messages for mutual acquaintances ("...Tell Gosibehn that I have read the book she sent with full concentration..."), also one card signed, to Yeshwant Prasad reminding him of his role in the charkhamovement ("...when we started the charkha movement you were requested to send cotton bales to Gangabehn...") and warning that bales of cotton were not arriving from Bombay, in Gujarati, 11 pages, 4to and 12mo, 19 March 1926 to 21 December 1930 (where dated), one letter decayed with loss, three letters with small burn holes


Jamnabehn was a member of the extended Gandhi clan. She was adept as spinning khadi and worked closely with the grand-daughters of Dadabhai Naoroji and other members of Gandhi's circle. Most of these letters were written whilst Gandhi was imprisoned without trial from May 1930 to January 1931, following the Salt March.
