i-iv. Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner

During the time he exhibited with Allan Stone, from his first solo exhibition in 1968 until 1983, Estes became established as one of the world's foremost Photo Realist painters. Despite their looser brush work, Estes' 1960s works featuring city life and people engaged in everyday activities laid the groundwork for extremely refined, masterfully detailed paintings of windowed storefronts and unassuming urban settings with an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Estes is the recipient of a National Council for the Arts fellowship and is a member of the National Academy of Design. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Metropolitan Museum of art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, among others.
