It'd be a tall task to find a more handsome watch than this GMT-Master from 1960. There are a number of characteristics that this watch has that make it extremely attractive. The gilt gloss dial is what catches the eye first, followed by the softly faded pepsi bezel. When looking closer, the chapter ring is noticed around the edge of the dial, as well as the exclamation point. Exclamation point dials are thought to indicate a lesser usage of radium in the luminous mixture and are recognizable and desirable. Another distinguishing feature are the pointed crown guards of the case.
Finally, and perhaps most impressive, is that this watch is offered with its original guarantee and COSC papers.
The watch is in very good condition overall.
The case is strong and still retains evidence of its original bevels, but has been lightly polished.
The inside case back is marked 1675 and stamped "I.60"
The insert has lightly faded and is correct for the watch.
The dial and hands are in excellent condition. The lume has aged slightly across both and the GMT hand has been relumed.
The rivet bracelet is in good condition with light signs of wear and has a clasp stamped "2.61"
The movement is running at time of cataloguing; however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
The bracelet circumference is approximately 175mm
