Description
In the early 1900s, Cartier entered the watchmaking industry which has quickly become incredibly successful for the brand. This early example of Cartier watches from the 1930s features a miniature platinum case, cream dial, and a thin black velvet strap.
Condition Report
Case: The case is in overall fair condition with visible surface scratches and scuffing throughout. Case is marked "Made in France." The bracelet cord with some light fraying. The enamel and yellow gold folding clasp in good condition with British hallmarks. Small loss to the crystal glazing at 10 o'clock.
Dial: The dial with surface wear. Fading and losses to the indexes and signature. Surface dust and debris. Hands with some losses to the blue color near the center arbor.
Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
