Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1710-1778).

  • Magnificent group of six views of Rome, all from the Rome edition of Vedute di Roma, etchings with engraving on laid paper, with central vertical folds.
  • Views include the Dogana di Terra in Piazza di Pietra, the Piazza di Monte Cavallo, perspective view of the great Fountain of the Virgin Water, Piazza Navona over the ruins of the Circi Agonale, the Piazza and Basilica of S. Giovanni in Laterano, and the famous Vatican Basilica with its large Portico and adjacent Piazza.
