A British non-Oscar style poster for the film Star Wars.

This poster was originally acquired from a collector who worked in advertising (at Saatchi & Saatchi) and was able to use their contacts to get some promotional material straight from the source. Most posters of this era were sent out folded to the cinemas, while this one was rolled.
Designed by Tom Chantrell, who was tasked with enhancing the star appeal and the merchandising opportunities for Fox and George Lucas.
Star Wars was released in the United Kingdom ahead of the Oscar Awards, but as soon as these were announced, posters were printed with additional Oscar text. The early non-Oscar version was printed in only limited numbers, making this version significantly rarer.
