Description

Brutalist Hanukkah lamp menorah by David Palombo.

  • Hand-forged, cast and soldered iron.
  • David Palombo (Turkish, 1920–1966) was a sculptor and painter who immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1923.
  • Palombo began his studies at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and became a student of sculptor Ze’ev Ben-Zvi in 1942, later becoming an assistant at Ben-Zvi’s studio and teaching at Bezalel.
  • Palombo’s known works include the gates to the memorial building at Yad Vashem (1960) and the gates to the Knesset; the latter were created shortly before his premature death.
