Description

Brass campagna-form vases after the Warwick vase electrified and mounted on later custom faux marble bases.

  • The Warwick vase is an Ancient Roman marble vase with Bacchic ornamentation that was discovered at Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli in 1771 by Gavin Hamilton, a Scottish antiquarian and painter in Rome.
  • The original is now in the Burrell Collection in Glasgow.
  • Many large and small reproductions of the Warwick vase were made and collected by young Englishmen traveling the continent in the 19th century for their Grand Tour.
