Description

Burmese folding book with a carved cover.

  • Two-sided engraved palm leaves depicting animals of the zodiac with other supernatural animals, deities and protective ogres with a depiction of Rahu on one side and sacred text on the reverse.
  • The parabaik records spells and other magic practices—a traditional belief system of the Shan that ran parallel with their professed adherence to Theravada Buddhism.
  • Carved wooden case with elephants.
