A ticket stub from Roger Maris’ 61st home run game on October 1, 1961, graded "GOOD 2" by PSA.
On October 1, 1961, New York Yankees slugger Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record by smashing his 61st home run of the season. The 4th inning solo shot helped the Yankees defeat the Boston Red Sox 1-0 at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees went on to win the 1961 World Series, while Maris received the American League MVP award.
The record stood until the 1998 season before it was eclipsed by both Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire. 61 home runs remained the American League record until Aaron Judge hit 62 long balls in the 2022 season.
Maris won two MVPs and three World Series titles in a 12-year big league career that spanned from 1957–1968.
The ticket is encapsulated in a PSA slab and received a "GOOD 2" grade.
