On May 18, 2004, Arizona Diamondbacks ace Randy Johnson threw a “Perfect Game” against the Atlanta Braves in a 2-0 victory at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. It marked the 17th “Perfect Game” in MLB history, and Johnson, at 40 years old, was the oldest pitcher to ever accomplish the feat. “The Big Unit” recorded 13 strikeouts in the game.
One of the most feared pitchers in baseball history, Johnson won 5 Cy Young Awards and earned 10 All-Star Game selections. He played a pivotal role in the Diamondbacks’ 2001 World Series title and was named World Series MVP. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2015.
