Description
The Universal Genève Swiss watch brand was founded in 1894, and developed in-house movements to equip its collections. Several models are still highly sought after among collectors to this day. This minimalist design is a manual wind with the second hand displayed on the subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. It's a timepiece that can be worn for any occasion.
Honest Vintage: The Greg Selch Collection
A native New Yorker from a family of connoisseurs, Greg Selch has collected watches for over 20 years, among many other things. Over the years, Selch has become well-known for his passion: “orphan watches” as well as well-worn watches with patina, for which a term has been created: #selchism.
Condition Report
The watch is heavily worn throughout and is in need of restoration. The case has aged with patina throughout. The dial has aged to a tropical-like state. The hands have aged with patina. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement. "All watches sold in this collection are in their 'as found' vintage state and may include replacement parts or modifications."
