Description
Sylvain Vigny (French, 1902-1970)
A dynamic, tonalist still-life by this noted French/Swiss Expressionist painter. Born in Vienna, Vigny studied there and in Paris. He acquired Swiss citizenship during the Second World War and lived in Switzerland for the remainder of his life. The winner of numerous prizes and juried awards, his work is held in the permanent collections of numerous museums including the Pompidou Center in Paris.
