Description
Juste Présent is a collection of Tristan Tzara’s poems written between 1947 and 1950, with illustrations by his long-term collaborator and friend Sonia Delaunay.
Published in 1961, a period where Delaunay returned to painting and printmaking with styles and techniques akin to the early years of her career, the bright, abstract forms which she had pioneered at the beginning of the century now appeared in a whole new dimension and for a new audience (she was by this point a national treasure in France). However, this was not simply regurgitating her previous art, as she said herself, "Abstract art is only important if it is the endless rhythm where the very ancient and the distant future meet."
This portfolio of 16 etchings includes an additional hand-colored plate by the artist with alternative colors to that of the original. The extra suite and hand-colored plate are all signed by Delaunay.
