Description

Louise Donegan (British).

Sotheby’s is honored to present this curated grouping of works for sale to benefit The Andy Warhol Museum in partnership with No More Rulers. Proceeds from these sales will help to sustain The Warhol’s mission to provide a forum for artists, scholars, and the public to creatively interact with the life and art of Andy Warhol.

Louise Donegan currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. She studied Fine Art and Photography in her native country, the UK. Louise’s career as a fashion model began in her teens and led her to live all over the world, including cities such as London, Paris and Tokyo, before settling in New York in the mid 2000s. In her artwork, Louise regularly uses the resource most readily available to her: magazines. Her background in the fashion industry has a clear influence on her work today.

From women’s issues to conservation of the environment, it is no coincidence that organicism and recontextualisation lie at the centre of her work. Louise’s art is an exploration of the effect humans have on the organic world and, in turn, the organic world’s ultimate effect on humanity. Incorporating biological forms, Louise plays with scale to find congruence in the texture, colour or shapes of media images.

Louise’s work has been shown at Salomon Contemporary Gallery NYC, Brilliant Champions Gallery NYC, W Hotel Los Angeles. Published in Quiet Lunch Magazine and Daily Front Row. Currently on display at Heroes NYC, Uppercut NYC, PRC Los Angeles as well as several private collections.

NO MORE RULERS (NMR) is a platform representing empowerment, respect, and progression in the art world. NMR partners with leading international institutions, legacy artists, and estates to validate creators through channels of connection, exhibition, and distribution. By connecting audiences with narratives from both top creators and new voices, NMR hopes to empower the creative community and help rethink the status quo.
