Description

Robert Leepin (Danish, 1884–1967).

This work is offered unframed.

Robert Leepin first studied under Lauritz Tuxen and Viggo Johansen at Denmark's Royal Academy of Art (1909–1914). Beginning in 1921, Leepin took study trips abroad including to Moscow (1921), France (1923–26), Italy (1924, 1930), Algiers (1927–28) and Norway (1950). Leepin's work testifies to his clear inspiration from the early years of Danish Modernism, and derived from the artist's experience of working with the first generation of the School of Paris. Over the course of a long and successful career, Robert Leepin exhibited widely, including in Paris at the Salon d'Automne (1924), at Malmo (1914) and regularly at the Charlottenborg Museum from 1930. Robert Leepin's work can be found in private and public collections, including the permanent collections of the state museums of Denmark.
