Inspired by Melanie's childhood home of Bermuda, incorporating dramatic details into her rings. The color palette is reminiscent of the dramatic intense sunsets in Bermuda. The ring is named after the Palmetto Palm Tree, the only indigenous palm species in Bermuda. Palmetto berries ripen to a deep purple in the autumn in Bermuda, and in past years, were used to produce a local wine.

This piece is part of Sotheby's Brilliant and Black: A Jewelry Renaissance, the selling exhibition dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary skill, imagination, and craftsmanship of Black jewelry designers.
