This work is part of an outstanding selection from the Estate of Richard Hambleton, the enigmatic artist whose haunting shadow portraits helped define the urban interventionist spirit of street art in New York during the early 1980s, with a portion of the Estate’s proceeds from the sale to benefit Arts Education at the New Museum of Contemporary Art.

Condition Report

These works are in good condition overall. The edges of each sheet are irregular due to having been torn or cut by the artist. There are scattered areas of soiling and stray media throughout the surface. There are scattered holes in the larger plastic sheets due to handling wear, notably in pieces i-v. There is fading to the marker on each of the plastic sheets.
