Description
A British movie poster for the Alfred Hitchcock film The 39 Steps.
- Marc Stone (British, 1909-1991).
- Gaumont British Distributors Ltd.
- Style A poster.
- Linen backed.
- This work is presented unframed.
This is an exceptionally rare British poster. It is one of only five known surviving examples, all of which were found in Japan in the early 1990s. Apart from a style B British poster the same size, there are no other British posters for any of the Hitchcock film posters known to have survived for any of his films that he made in the UK before going to the US.
The artwork of Robert Donat clinging to the side of the train has amazing impact owing to its life-size format.
