Description
Vacheron Constantin Malte 100th Anniversary Platinum "Malte Edition 100ème Anniversaire" Edition with sand-blasted hand-painted Roman dial. The 36.70mm x 47.60mm (including lugs) solid tonneau-shaped barrel three-part case, downturned lugs and angled bezel are polished. The dial is an extremely rare solid metal silvered sand-blasted with hand-painted black Roman numeral hour markers. It features 18kt white gold lance-shaped polished/matt hands. Sapphire convex crystal. It has a power reserve of 65 hours at full wind, and it's water-resistant to 30 meters/100 feet. The 9.10mm thick case, dial and movement are all signed. Fitted on a rare hand-stitched dark blue Mississippiensis alligator leather strap with large square scales and saddle finish and a platinum ardillon buckle. Limited and numbered to an exclusive 100 pieces worldwide.
This Vacheron & Constantin Malte Small Seconds 882131/000P-9764 has a mechanical manual winding Vacheron & Constantin caliber 4400 movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment, and it's constructed with 21 jewels, 127 components, a shock absorber device and a straight-line lever escapement. It has the hallmark stamp of the Quality Seal of Geneva, a self-compensating flat balance spring and a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
Vacheron Constantin is the oldest watch manufacturer in continuous operation. Jean-Marc Vacheron established the company in 1755. He produced some of the first horological complications and engine-turned dials. Vacheron Constantin remains at the pinnacle of high horology, considered part of the "Holy Trinity" alongside Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. The Vacheron Constantin Malte is one of the pillars of the brand and is named after the emblem of the house of Vacheron Constantin; the Maltese Cross. GoodThe watch is in overall good condition with light wear throughout commensurate with age. Case is in overall good condition with minor surface wear. Strap is in overall good condition. Dial is in overall good condition. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
