Description
Marilyn Monroe in Something's Got to Give - 7, by Lawrence Schiller, 1962, printed in 2007.
Something's Got to Give was a film shot in 1962 that was intended to be feature length. Production was cut short due to Marilyn Monroe becoming severely ill only a month after filming began. This was her last performance as an actor before she died in August that year.
Lawrence Schiller was one of the two freelance photographers who were allowed on set during production to photograph Monroe after filming wrapped one day. During the moment depicted in this image, Monroe had been playing in and around the water while wearing only a robe and a nude-colored bikini. After taking a dip in the pool, she emerged without the bikini.
This series of images went on to feature on over 70 magazine covers in 32 countries. Besides these images, Lawrence Schiller is best known as a film producer, director, screenwriter, and author.
