Description

A very decorative map of Russia with an inset plan of Moscow, and views of Narva Castle.

  • John Speed (English).
  • Engraved by Francis Lamb (English).
  • London: Thomas Bassett & Richard Chiswell, 1676.
  • On the reverse is an English language "Description of Russia."

Although Speed's atlas "A Prospect of the most famous Parts of the World" was first published in 1627; this map, engraved by Francis Lamb, only appeared in the 1676 edition. As this was the last edition of the atlas, Russia is one of the rarest of the series.
