Description
The Portuguese is one of IWC's core model lines, and with a rich history to boo. First introduced in 1939, they were commissioned as chronometer spec wristwatches by a Portuguese retailer, for which they had to use pocket watch movements to achieve, hence their relatively large size for the era and also earning the famous moniker. The present limited edition of just 500 pieces is cased in platinum, a rare and luxurious metal seldomly used by the brand.
Condition Report
Very GoodThe watch is in very good overall condition with light surface wear, but remains well proportioned with nice proportions and crisp case back engravings around the sapphire crystal and 2 crisp hallmarks between the 12 0'clock lugs. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
