Description
English Neoclassical-style sterling silver candlesticks.
- Sold as a set of 2.
- Made by Hawksworth, Eyre & Co., Ltd in Sheffield in 1880-1.
- Urn socket on domed foot mounted to tapering pillar on raised square foot.
- Beading, leaf-and-dart, swags and ram’s heads.
- Wraparound presentation engraved on base: “Presented by Members of the General and Ladies’ Aid / Committee of the Talmud Torah to Miss Sara Watchman / on the Occasion of her Marriage to Mr Asher Seligman / 28th Dec. 1927.”
- Both fully marked. One has 1880 date letter and the other has 1881 date letter.
