Description
Rolex introduced the Reference 6239 in 1963. Its production run was concurrent with its predecessor, the ref. 6238, which ran until the later 1960s. Whilst the cases of these two models were the same, Rolex introduced a couple of significant visual upgrades. Primarily, this was the movement of the tachymeter scale from the dial to the enlarged steel bezel. This increased the watch diameter by 1mm, giving it a more substantial look whilst also giving the dial a more uncluttered appearance. In addition, ref 6239 dials displayed contrasting sub registers.
