Description
A first edition of Daido Moriyama's Shashin yo Sayonara, signed by the artist.
Shashin yo Sayonara is the central book of the Provoke movement, born out of Moriyama's perceived limitations of Provoke's manifesto and photography as a medium. The resulting combination of images re-photographed from newspapers, magazines, television screens, other people's negatives, and his own pictures composed mainly of out-takes, scratched frames, and blurred images was sequenced by two editors at Shashin Hyoron-sha in a seemingly random order to create a visual manifestation of the overpowering density of life in modern Japan.
