Description

A Chinese Republic Period porcelain plate.

  • The demise of imperial porcelain during the late Qing dynasty had one good outcome in that it released a group of highly trained and skilled decorators onto the private market. They joined a talented group of master porcelain painters working for private firms and in their own studios.
  • This plate depicts an idyllic winter scene, popular among artists of the time.
  • Hardwood base.
  • Artist signature on bottom.

Provenance

Acquired in Hong Kong, 1971.
