Description

A Chinese porcelain brush pot from the Republic period.

  • The demise of imperial porcelain during the late Qing dynasty had one good outcome in that it released a group of highly trained and skilled decorators onto the private market. They joined a talented group of master porcelain painters working for private firms and in their own studios, He Xuren (Chinese, 1882-1940), one of ‘The Eight Friends of Zhushan’ being among them.
  • Painted with a snowy scene in the style of the famous artist.
