Description

  • An embroidered panel of a woman in elegant dress on an apricot ground in a giltwood frame.
  • The face is embroidered with slightly higher relief to suggest depth.
  • This piece is final sale and not eligible for return.

Provenance

Collection of Dr. Louis Livingston Seaman (1851-1932), a military surgeon in China during the Boxer Rebellion.
Gifted to John Karl Moffett, and thence by descent.

Overall good condition.

Minor staining and some scattered loose threads.

White blemishes or what appear to be scratches on gold silk fabric. 

Frame has some loss to gilding but it adds to the vintage charm of the frame. 

Brown paper on back is torn.

Panel has not been examined outside of frame.
