Description

First edition, first printing set of two volumes of the Personal Reminiscences of Henry Irving.

  • Volume I: 372 pages, Volume II: 385 pages.
  • Octavo.
  • Bookplates on front pastedown and endpaper identifying it as the former property of David A. Robertson and Anne Knobel Robertson.
  • Includes a handwritten note by David A. Robertson detailing why the book was important to himself and his wife.
  • Bound in red cloth with gilt lettering on spines and gilt-stamped face on front covers.


Formerly belonged to David A. Robertson and Anne Knobel Robertson. David A. Robertson was president of Goucher College from 1930 to 1948. After his wife Anne passed away from injuries from a car crash in 1942, he and several friends donated books in her name to Goucher. These books are identified with an "A.K.R." bookplate and a handwritten note from Robertson.
