Catalogue Note
The present painting belonged to the private collection of Maurice Garnier. It was meant to be one of the works Garnier selected to be hung in the Bernard Buffet Museum he was planning to establish. Garnier’s museum was never realized and the work was acquired directly from Garnier by the present owner in 2006.
