Description
The first Royal Oak was created in 1972 and designed by the legendary watchmaker Gérald Genta, who drew inspiration for its shape from a ship's porthole and completed its blueprints overnight. It was introduced as the world's first luxury watch in stainless steel, in an attempt to revitalize traditional watchmaking from the quartz crisis.
In 1993, the first big, bold Royal Oak Offshore broke all the rules and kick-started a global taste for larger-than-life luxury sports watches. The 2018 re-edition celebrates the essence of the original piece, applying the knowledge and technique of 2018. Stainless steel case, glare proofed sapphire crystal, case back engraved with the "Royal Oak Offshore" logo in the center and the word "AUTOMATIC," black rubber-clad push-pieces, and screw-locked crown. The watch is powered by the Audemars Piguet caliber 3126/3840 instead of the JLC-based Audemars Piguet caliber 2226. Blue dial with “Petite Tapisserie” pattern, blue counters, white gold applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating, blue inner bezel. Stainless steel bracelet with AP folding clasp. This watch comes with a full set of papers and box.
