Description
Rolex 116520 Cosmograph Daytona White 'APH' Blue Lume Chromalight Dial in 904L Stainless Steel. Extremely Rare and Highly Collectible "Error Dial". The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, bracelet, screwed-down case-back, angled graduated rotating bezel, round chronograph buttons, and the patented Rolex triplock winding-crown shielded by a protective guard are polished/brushed. The bezel has an engraved tachymeter graduation scale up to 400 units per hour. The dial features the extremely rare and highly collectible 'APH' with blue lume Chromalight display with applied luminous inset white gold lozenge-shaped hour index markers, luminous baton hands, and a 1/5 second division outer track. The three sub-dials have silver rings. There is a 12-hour register at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute dial at 3 o'clock, and a seconds sub-dial at 6. It's water-resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 12mm case, dial, and movement are all signed. This watch is a NOS piece that has all its original factory stickers and protective film along with its original barcode. I true collector-safe queen with all its bells and whistles.
This Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116520 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex Calibre 4130 movement that's rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 44 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 6 positions. Included is a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, a hacking seconds mechanism, and microstella regulating screws. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz).
When it comes to watches, details make all the difference. And when we come to the topic of watch collection, details matter all the more. As a matter of fact, small differences can make a huge difference in the collectability of certain watches.
It’s not often that Rolex, a brand of perfection, makes mistakes, and as a result, the Rolex Daytona APH error dial is a watch that has appreciated greatly in value over the years, and will likely continue to do so. This is also contributed by the fact that more and more people are made aware of this error dial.
In addition, the Rolex Daytona 116520 APH dial was only in production for a few years before Rolex changed the printing, meaning that there are relatively few examples out there, compared to the total number of 116520s manufactured.
Here you have the chance to own an extremely rare and highly collectible specimen from one of the most coveted Rolex sports models of all time - The Cosmograph Daytona.
